Our classroom will use a Technology themed clip chart to monitor behavior. A clip chart is a
great tool that allows students to be rewarded for positive behavior, while
discouraging negative behavior.
Each student has a clothespin with his or her name on it. Everyone will start on green at the beginning of each day, and clips can be moved up and down throughout the day based on behavior. These are the different levels that your child can end his or her day on:
Double Star – This Genius level is reserved for outstanding behavior. A student who reaches this level will receive 4 punches on their card at the end of the day.
Star – Students can move to this Icon level for continuing to display good behavior. You should be very proud of your child for reaching this level! This level is rewarded with 3 punches on a student’s behavior punch card.
Pink – Students will move to this Great Job "App" lying Yourself level for showing that they are making the right behavior decisions. Ending the day on this level is great, and they will receive 2 punches on their card.
Green – Every student will start the day on the I Control My Behavior level. As the day goes on, clips can be moved up and down, based on behavior. This level is good to be on and is rewarded with 1 punch on their card.
Yellow – A student will be moved to the Warning! Delete Negative Behavior level as a warning about his/her behavior, and a reminder to follow the rules. Please talk with your child about their behavior if he/she receives a yellow dot on his/her behavior calendar.
Orange- After the first warning, a student will be moved to the Restart Your Attitude level as another warning about his/her behavior, and a reminder to follow the rules. Please talk with your child about their behavior if he/she receives an orange dot on his/her behavior calendar.
Red – When a student moves to the Let's Email Your Parents level, the teacher will notify parents via email, note or phone call. A visit to the Principal’s office might also be in order depending on the situation. Students in this level may also lose some classroom privileges.
You will find a behavior calendar in your child’s daily take home folder. Please leave this calendar in your child’s folder. If your child has ended their day on yellow, orange, or red, you will see a colored dot on their calendar. If your child’s calendar does not have a dot, then they have had a great day! Once your child has 20 punches on his/her behavior chart, they can turn it in for a trip to the treasure box! Please let me know if you have any questions concerning my behavior plan.
